Frieseke & Hoepfner Contamat FHT 111G Contamination Monitor

The FHT 111G is a contamination monitor ("geiger counter") from the West-German manufacturer Frieseke & Hoepfner. It was designed for civil protection applications and are regularly found on German eBay auctions.
Three different kind of detectors are usable:
- Proportional purge-gas counter tube using butane gas: Alpha and Beta
- Xenon counter tube: Low-energetic Gamma and Beta
- Tritium counter tube using butane gas: Low-energetic Beta
I was lucky and got a sold-as-defective but working unit from eBay with the common and popular proportional counter tube. It can be refilled using clean, oil-free off-the-shelf butane gas and has in practical an infinite life when care is taken. The unit was in good visual condition and required only thourogh cleaning.
